Less than a year later, Erdoğan’s Justice and Development party (AKP) suffered its worst-ever electoral defeat in local elections. In the time between these two elections, Pew Research Center surveyed 1,049 Turkish adults. The results show negative opinions of Erdoğan and mixed views of the national government he leads. Overall, 55% of Turkish adults have an unfavorable opinion of Erdoğan, while 43% have a favorable opinion.
