WORLD DEMOCRACY PLATFORM: In Turkey, when the main opposition party took over a large majority of the municipalities owned by the ruling party, the ruling party, not wanting to accept being the second largest party, disabled these municipalities and took control of them through legal means. Their aim here is to strengthen their objective of shutting down the main opposition party and preventing it from participating in the elections. However, before these municipalities changed hands, huge state losses were incurred in the ruling party municipalities, and no investigation was initiated against any of them. For example, the former mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Kadir Topbaş, supported many foundations financially, sent food from the municipality to foundations belonging to Erdoğan’s son, rented out municipal properties to foundations at low prices, and other private individuals used municipal vehicles. Former Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor İsmet İnönü distributed free meals from the Ankara municipal budget to FETÖ dormitories and spent money on dinosaur statues. These things were not reported in the newspapers at the time, and the vehicles belonged to the municipality. In order for the Turkish economy to recover and attract foreign investment, the rule of law must be reformed and democracy must be established, even down to the license plates.
