TRUMP IS GOING IFJ - INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF JOURNALISTS Judge Aileen Cannon has given Donald Trump 48 hours to submit all his pre-trial petitions individually in the Mar-a-Lago classified documents case. Judge Cannon issued a ruling on Tuesday rejecting Trump’s attempt to submit all his pre-trial petitions at once. Instead, she requested that each petition be submitted “individually” to the court and Special Counsel Jack Smith by Thursday. She also denied a request to provisionally submit censored versions of some of the petitions. Newsweek contacted Trump’s lawyers via email for comment on the matter. This decision comes after Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanche, filed a motion on Tuesday stating his intention to submit "at least 10 preliminary hearing petitions" to challenge the charges against the former president for allegedly holding onto classified records after leaving the White House and obstructing their return. According to Blanche, the motions were expected to address issues such as Smith's appointment to the case, Trump's claim of presidential immunity, the Mar-a-Lago raid, and the Presidential Records Act. Smith opposed the request to submit the petitions in a combined summary, arguing it was part of Trump's "relentless" plan to delay the trial "at all costs." Smith further suggested that Trump's legal team could add "misleading" theories to the petitions to further delay the trial. Trump's lawyers argued that submitting the petitions together would be more efficient and that, given the highly confidential nature of the case, the version released to the public should be censored.
