IFJ-INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF JOURNALIST The Referendum is the Biggest Blow to Democracy. The same game was played by Erdoğan in Turkey in 2019. Unstamped ballots were used in the referendum, and it was completely unlawful. The referendum was accepted, and a one-man regime was established. The Republic of Turkey was no longer a secular, democratic state governed by the rule of law, and it became an autocratic government. There is no freedom of the press or trust in the rule of law left in Turkey. The people are in economic and political chaos. Social trauma is taking place, and the society is fighting for its rights in the streets. Because the only person who can protect this dictatorship is the dictator Turamp. Because a government that suits American interests is a dictator for them. Turamp is keeping them in power. So, the Turkish people learned too late how dangerous the referendum was.
