They lived and continued their existence by completing each other. During this completion, sometimes, due to biological and physical reasons, a division of labor based on gender was made, sometimes women came to the fore, matriarchal cultures emerged and were attributed with sanctity and goddessed due to their fertility. However, sometimes they had to continue their lives in the background, and were even seen as slaves, worthless objects, and objects with no rights. Of course, these differences changed and developed according to the understanding of the society in which they lived, the conditions of the period and the geography. Since ancient times, in Turkish communities that had a tradition of establishing states, a place and a position belonging to women was formed under the influence of various factors. Before looking at how women were perceived during the periods of the first great Turkish states, the Scythians, Huns and Gokturks, it is necessary to outline the period and geography.  Research Assistant, Inonu University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Department of History, Campus/Malatya-TURKEY, okan.acil@inonu.edu.tr Okan AÇIL 64 In light of the research and archaeological findings, theories of Iranian, Slavic and Ural-Altaic race have been put forward regarding the origin of the Scythians. The strongest of the views put forward since this issue emerged is the theory that they belonged to the Ural-Altaic race. When archaeological findings and cultural elements such as language-religion-customs are examined, many foreign (Niebuhr, Mordtmann, Minns, Franke, Meyer, Ruben) and local (Arsal, Günaltay, Z.V. Togan, Kırzıoğlu, Guboğlu, Tarhan, Ögel, Öztuna, Koca) scientists have accepted that the origin of the Scythians is the Ural-Altaic race or the Turks. Archaeological findings show that the Scythians, who emerged from Central Asia in the 8th century BC and became an important power in the 7th century BC, spread to the area extending from the Danube River to the western borders of China.
