What is the Nardugan holiday in the Turks? Why did the Turks decorate trees? Why did they make a Tree of Life? Was Santa Claus Frosty Ata and Snow Girl in Central Asia?
The 'rebirth feast', known as Nardugan (Nartugan), which the Turks have been maintaining for centuries, is celebrated on December 21. Because they believed that the new year came after December 21, when the shortest day and the longest night were experienced according to the tropic (equinox). This is reflected in the motifs and rugs of the Turks. That was the reason for the pine tree decorations. The name of these tree decorations was called the 'Tree of Life'.

The feast of the rebirth of the Turks, called Nardugan (Nartugan), begins on December 21 and ends on March 21 as Nowruz. Because on the equinox (rotation) of March 21, day and night are equalized. On March 21, spring comes, nature comes to life again. This is where the importance of pine tree decorations comes from. Because it was called the 'Tree of Life'.

The Turkish holiday of Nardugan (rebirth) was adapted centuries later by Christians as the birth of Jesus (Christmas) on December 24.

However, this was a Turkish New Year celebration holiday celebrated in Central Asia centuries before Jesus.

The stories of Christians known as Santa Claus, the symbol of Santa Claus, were also separated from a Turkish tradition.

Because there was a story of 'Frosty Ata' and 'Snow girl' in Central Asia centuries before the years when the person called Santa Claus allegedly lived.

According to Turkish Mythology, Ayaz Ata was a legend that appeared in the cold in winter, helped the lonely and hungry, delighted the strange.

Muazzez Ilmiye Çağ, one of the world's well-known Sumerologists, has also repeatedly explained that pine tree decorations were in Turkish traditions hundreds of years before Christianity...

According to the beliefs of the Turks before their entry into monotheistic religions, there is an 'akçam tree' right in the middle of the earth. This ‘tree of life’ is called. We can see this tree as a motif in all our carpets, rugs and embroideries.

It is known that the sun is very important in the Turks. According to his beliefs, he fights day and night on December 21, when the nights get shorter and the days start to get longer. After a long battle, day triumphs over night.

This is the victory of the sun, the rebirth, the Turks are celebrating with great festivities under the ‘akçam tree’.

The rebirth of the sun is perceived as a 'new birth'.

WHAT IS THE NARDUGAN HOLIDAY?

(Nar=sun, Tugan, dugan=born) So the meaning is the rising sun. The Turks are praying to God Ulgen because he gave back the Sun at that time. They put gifts under the tree so that their prayers go to God, they tie ribbons to the branches and wish wishes for that year from God.

For this holiday, the houses are being cleaned. Beautiful clothes are being worn. They are singing songs and playing games around the tree. Elderly people, grandparents, grandmothers are visited, families come together to eat and drink Decently.

'DECORATING A PINE TREE IS A TURKISH TRADITION’

The famous Sumerologist Muazzez Ilmiye Çağ also emphasized every time that pine tree decorations were in Turkish traditions hundreds of years before Christianity.

In the avalanche statement, "Bayram Nar-Dugan on December 21, when the day beats the night, is one of the Central Asian Turks.

They write their wishes, wishes, expectations for the new year on the ribbons they take from the holy maple.

The first universal Christian council, which met in Iznik in 325, took the pine tree in Anatolia and brought it to today's celebrations.

However, Akçam is the sacred tree of life in the center of the world in the ancient Turks. There are Anatolian carpet and rug patterns.

In Nardugan, people cleaned their houses, put on their best clothes. They dance and sing around the tree, the elders were visited.

Families would be together, special meals would be eaten Decently.

Ulgen, the protector of humanity (according to Turkish belief in Central Asia, Ulgen is the God of Goodness), had a long beard and a cloak.

It was translated by the consul of Nicaea into the belief of today's Christmas.

There are no pine trees growing in the land where Jesus lived.

It was taken by Christians with the passage of the Turks to Europe.

The date of December 25th was chosen for the birth of Jesus, who was born in autumn, a few centuries later," he said

NOT SANTA CLAUS, BUT THE 'FROSTY HORSE'

Ayaz Ata is described as the Khan of Cold in Turkish, Altay and Central Asian mythologies, especially among Kazakh and Kyrgyz Turks and Turkmen.

According to mythologies, he was a hero who appeared in the cold in winter, helping the lonely and hungry...

The celebrations of the birth of the sun in Nar Tugan have also turned into Christmas celebrations of the birth of Jesus.

The word Christmas is also formed from the words Noio (new) and Helios (sun).

In other words, it is identical to Nar Tugan.

Ulgen was replaced by Pere Noel / Santa Klaus, who, just like him, wears a long caftan, a fur cap, a red belt and boots.

However, according to Turkish belief in Central Asia, Ulgen is the God of Goodness.

"Christmas in the Turks was on the night of December 21st”

The ancient Turkish historical researcher Zübeyir Batur said that the new year, which we know as December 31, entered our lives later, the Turks accepted New Year's Eve as the night connecting December 21 to December 22, when the days began to lengthen and the nights to shorten.

Batur said, "The first full moon following this night was the first day of the new year, because on December 21, the sun was beating the darkness.

The Turks celebrated the return of the sun under the sacred akçam tree during the Nar-Dugan festivals.

They used to convey their wishes to God by tying tapes to the branches of the maple trees. Akçam is the tree of life.

It is still present in the rug patterns of Anatolia. The tree, which extends from the ground to the sky in Turkish belief, also exists in Sumerian traditions.

The sun was sacred in the Turks, but it was not God.

From the constant strife of night and day, the day emerges victorious on December 22nd.

Therefore, the ’Feast of Rebirth-Nardugan' is very important in Turkish history,” he said.

THIS IS HOW AZERBAIJANI TURKS DESCRIBE REACHING NOWRUZ FROM DECEMBER 21 TO March 21

Marched December 21, Nardugan and March 21, Nowruz, the former Consul General of Azerbaijan in Istanbul, the famous journalist Ibrahim Nebioglu explained as follows:

“in 3 months it is a holiday, the Holiday of Novruz.

January December 21 – January 30 - 40 days of ‘Great Ordeal' for Azerbaijani Turks after December 21,

January February 31 – February 20) After 20 days of ‘Little Ordeal’

March February 20th – March 20th) will be Nowruz on March 21st. And ‘Ala Ordeal’ (February 20th - March 20th) will be Nowruz.

"If on this day you see the arrival of the wedding day, and I have a case for 40 days, such a Big Freckle begins.

When I am a servant, I can share with my grandmother what my father used to send to us from abroad.

we would have been happy to spend 20 decabr axtime with us.

Unfortunately, that girl, who was blessed from the spring, never became a nanny, but our people would be very happy.

The arrival of such freckles is the light of the feet coming from far away in November.

Because after the Big Freckle (21 decabr-30 janvar), the Small Freckle (31 janvar-20 janvar) will last for 20 days, and the Happy Freckle (20 janvar-20 March) will come. 3 months later it is Novruz.....)"
